Many thanks to Becky Fordham for putting up with me during the making of this record. Also special thanks to Jon Stolber for lending an ear in the recording phase.

Today I’m re-releasing the 2009 song Took A Walk.

This was done as a solo artist with no project name, just me being me, Chris Fordham.

As noted a few posts back, this song came from a time laden with sorrow, and was something that gave me a focus. I don’t like to dwell too much on the scenario, but the song is there as a reminder. Despite its inherent sadness, there is a positivity that comes from it by the end of its 6 minute runtime.

So why re-release it now?

Today is World Mental Health Day and I wanted to potentially raise some money for a mental health charity that mattered to me at the time the song was written, and who still do valuable work to this day. The Samaritans.

If this raises them a quid or two, it’s done some good.

This 2023 version of the song has been completely remastered from the original recorded parts, and a couple of additional instruments tracked/re-tracked and new effects and mixing knowledge applied to improve it. Accompanying it is a new recording of a song that featured as the b-side to ‘Took A Walk’. ‘Twilight’ was a live favourite for my solo shows and is still one I happily play today – I’ve put this new version out under the name Violet’s Gone, as it does relate more to who I am nowadays. It was an excuse to dust off the autoharp as well.

The lead single from my new album as The Silent Committee, City of Reflections, is available as a FREE download NOW!

The download includes an extra non-album track.

Also, if you didn’t see it already there is a video that accompanies the song, here or here.

The new album is entitled ‘One Day The Sadness Will End, But I Don’t Think Today Is The Day…’ and is due to be released on October 27th exclusively through the projects BandCamp.

See above the video for the lead single ‘City of Reflections’.

The single will be available to download for free on Friday October 6th and includes an extra non-album track!

The album will do all the usual TSC stuff – instruments played, sampled, broken and oddly arranged in a minimal, ambient fashion. It’s been a stop start few years in the making, but overall I’m happy with the result.

Much love.
